These days the cases of online fraud are increasing in Seoni district. There is no awareness among the people to avoid cyber fraud. People are losing their savings every day.
In one such case, a girl student of Seoni was duped of Rs 10,000. She is studying BSC first year in Somwar Chowk Bhairoganj. The student has lodged an FIR in Kotwali. The student told that she is a resident of Panjra, who lives and studies in Somwar Chowk. A person's call came on his mobile number, he called his name Chandu Jiju. The name of the student's brother-in-law is also Chandu. She started talking considering him as her brother-in-law. He said that the caller told that a friend from Hoshangabad is sending Rs 20,000. I have given your number on the phone. The caller misled the girl student and got Rs 10,000 transferred on phone pay.
The student transferred 10,000 to phone pay. After that the caller kept on misleading and getting the money transferred.
Slowly, the girl student transferred about 45 thousand to the person on the phone. The girl called the person in front and said that money has been deducted from my account. He said that you keep doing as I am saying, otherwise the money will not come back.
The student felt that she had become a victim of fraud. He immediately informed the police station about this. The Kotwali police registered a case against the unknown and took it under investigation.
